The Sad Strange Tale of Dwayne McDuffie

(click the pic)
Hey, remember this? Well, apparently there's some wine and roses mixed in with that doom and gloom. New Milestone series? Possible Spider-Man work? That'd be nice. Know what would be even better? A Thing series. Maybe a new series of Marvel Two-in-One, with McDuffie and Matt Fraction alternating. I'd pay $3.99 for that.

i thought McDuffie did a great job with JLA in the beginning of the run. he basically took a series that was just treading water and gave it focus and squred some stuff away. however whether it was his fault or DC's or just Crisis overload that series lost steam pretty quick. the flagship of DC should not be so ... i dunno ... blah. i ended up dropping it a few month back.

i hope MCDuffie lands on his feet again soon. he's a talented guy and i know he's got good stories to tell. i hope he chalks it up to a live and learn with his tenure at DC.

I really champion McDuffie for having the balls to say, "If they'd let me do my job as a writer, the books would've been better." Granted, I'm paraphrasing here, but I feel like there are so many Big Two books that are suffering from their obligatory tie-ins to the obligatory "next big event." This is a guy who's been around awhile. He knows his stuff, ya know?
